Davie church, mayor donate for hurricane relief to Jamaica
DAVIE, FL:
The Davie Community Worship Centre (DCWC), under the leadership of Bishop Dr Fedlyn Beason, has donated US$6,000 to assist Jamaican churches devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The funds will go to the New Testament Church of God in Jamaica.
Bishop Beason stipulated that a portion of the donation be allocated to the churches that he pastored in Lacovia and Santa Cruz, in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica, most severely damaged by Hurricane Melissa. The balance will go to the other churches across Jamaica that suffered from the hurricane’s impact.
Bishop Beason, a former Church of God International executive and Caribbean field director, emphasised the importance of supporting communities in crisis. “Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in Jamaica who have endured so much in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa,” he said. The initiative gained additional momentum when the Mayor of Davie, during a Veteran’s Day visit to DCWC, pledged a personal contribution of US$1,000 to bolster the relief efforts.
DCWC has a long-standing commitment to philanthropy, both locally and internationally. The church encourages others to join in rebuilding efforts for affected Jamaican communities.
