Two men charged after armed car robbery in Portmore
The police in Portmore, St Catherine have charged two men for the armed robbery of a man whose car was stolen.
Charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and conspiracy are 21-year-old construction worker Roshawn Sawyers, otherwise called 'Buddo Chop', and 25-year-old Kamal Gayle, otherwise called 'Fat Boy', both of Southboro in Portmore.
Their court dates are being finalised.
Reports from the Portmore police are that about 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, Sawyers and Gayle approached a man and demanded his car and money.
When their demands were not met, the men reportedly used a firearm to hit the complainant, causing bruises and swelling.
The complainant ran off to avoid further injury and later made a report to the police.
Police officers assisted him back to the scene, where it was discovered that his Toyota Corolla motor car had been stolen.
An investigation was launched, the vehicle was recovered, and Sawyers and Gayle were apprehended during a targeted operation in the community.
The men were subsequently charged on Friday, January 2, after being identified during an identification parade.
