The police say they seized bags containing over 1,000 pounds of marijuana in Yallahs, St Thomas, on February 20, 2026.

More than 500 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $10 million, was seized during an operation in Yallahs, St Thomas, on Friday afternoon, the police say.

Officers said they acted on information and, around 3 p.m., went to a premises in the South Haven district, where they allegedly discovered several white knitted bags containing the drugs.

No arrests were made in connection with the seizure.

Investigators suspect the consignment may be linked to the guns-for-drugs trade and said they are continuing efforts to locate persons believed to be connected to it.

According to Deputy Superintendent Jovaine Willams, crime officer for the parish, the seizure "sends a clear message that the St Thomas Division remains relentless in disrupting the guns-for-drugs trade."

"The removal of over 500 pounds of ganja from circulation is a significant blow to criminal networks that seek to exchange narcotics for illegal firearms. While no arrests have been made at this time, our investigations are ongoing, and we are confident that those responsible will be brought to justice."
