United Kingdom-based trade magazine, The Banker has ranked National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd (NCBJ) among the top-performing banks in the Caribbean, with the organisation securing the number one position in Jamaica for profitability, operational efficiency, return on risk, liquidity, and overall banking performance.

It is the latest recognition for NCBJ, which has continued to earn its place among the region’s leading financial institutions, securing multiple international banking awards in 2026 that recognise its financial performance, resilience, and commitment to delivering value for customers across Jamaica and the Caribbean.

NCBJ said in a release that these recognitions, awarded by respected global institutions and independent assessors, underscore the bank’s consistency in execution, innovation, and customer-focused solutions, reinforcing its position as a trusted financial partner in a rapidly evolving landscape.

NCBJ’s rankings are based on rigorous financial analysis and benchmarking and, the bank said, underscore its ability to deliver a sustained, high-quality performance while maintaining strong fundamentals.

In addition to its performance rankings, the organisation received several major awards from Global Finance Magazine including that of Best Bank - Jamaica 2026, Best FX Bank - Jamaica 2026 for the eighth consecutive year and Best Trade Finance Provider – Jamaica 2026. The bank also earned the Elite Quality Recognition Award 2026 from JP Morgan for its exceptional straight through processing rates.

These awards recognise excellence in areas that directly impact customers, access to foreign exchange, seamless cross-border trade support, and overall banking reliability and service delivery.

The Best FX Bank award, in particular, highlights NCBJ’s leadership in foreign exchange liquidity, digital execution, and structured solutions, with J$8B in FX activity across major currencies.

Winning Regionally

Further reinforcing its regional leadership, Capital Finance International named NCBJ Trusted Partner in Retail and Corporate Finance Leadership – Caribbean 2026, recognising the Bank’s role in supporting both individual and business growth and financial inclusivity across the region.

In the bank’s release, Sheree Martin, interim CEO of NCBJ, noted that these awards signify more than recognition. Martin argued that the awards reflect the bank’s ongoing transformation and commitment to excellence.

“These awards are meaningful because they are independently determined and grounded in performance, discipline, and impact. They reflect the trust our customers place in us, the strength of our team, and our continued focus on building a bank that delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes,” she said.

“We are proud of this progress, and even more focused on what comes next. We are encouraged to keep raising the bar as we continue building a stronger, more innovative, and more resilient bank for Jamaica and the wider region.

“At a time when global benchmarking matters more than ever, our performance demonstrates that a Jamaica institution can compete, lead and be recognised on the world stage.”
