St Elizabeth man charged for allegedly killing ex-partner and dumping her body in river

The police in St Elizabeth have charged the man who allegedly killed his former common-law partner and dumped her body into a river in their community in Barton Wharf district.

Thirty-nine-year-old labourer Dellode Warren was charged on Sunday following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

According to the police, Warren admitted to the crime.

His court date is being finalised.

Killed is Nicole Brown, otherwise called ‘Nicky’, a 50-year-old farmer of Barton Wharf district, St Elizabeth.

Reports from the Black River police are that Warren and Brown, who were in a common-law relationship, reportedly had multiple disputes.

The police further reported that Brown had requested Warren to leave the home as a result of their ongoing conflicts.

They say that on Monday, August 3, a relative of Brown began searching for her and discovered that she was missing after multiple calls to her cell phone went unanswered.

The relative tried calling Warren; however, all calls made to his phone also went unanswered, according to the police.

The police say that when their home was searched, Warren’s belongings were discovered missing; hence, a missing person report was filed.

Later that day, Warren was confronted by residents.

According to the police, he was reportedly questioned about Brown’s disappearance, following which the confrontation became physical, and Warren sustained multiple injuries before he was rescued by the police and assisted to the hospital.

On Tuesday, August 4, Warren was taken to the Black River Police Station for questioning.

The police say that during the interview, he admitted to killing Brown and disposing of her body in a section of the Black River.

The police say a joint police-military search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of Brown’s body.
