Motorcyclist shot by men posing as police in Portmore

A man on a motorcycle was shot and injured in a gun attack by men posing as the police in Portmore, St Catherine, early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred about 12:10 a.m. on along Port Henderson Road

The police report that the man was riding his motorcycle along the roadway when, upon reaching the vicinity of Bayfront Villas, he was stopped by three masked men dressed in uniforms marked ‘police’.

The motorcyclist reportedly complied with their instructions.

During the stop, one of the men, who was armed with a gun, approached the man and began questioning him, according to the police.

The man allegedly fired two shots, hitting the man in both legs.

The injured motorcyclist managed to speed away on his motorcycle in the direction of the Portmore Toll Plaza.

He was subsequently assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he has been admitted for treatment.

The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the incident.
