Ikebana is the intricate Japanese art of floral arrangement which focuses on creating a oneness with humanity and nature.
This form of floral arrangement stems from the Japanese culture, which has a strong bond with natural surroundings. Instructors Myrtle D Halsall from the Ichiyo School of Ikebana, Jamaica Study Group and Beverly Chen from the Ohora School demonstrated the art in front of a captivated audience during Japan Day.
They incorporated a mixture of material that represent life and death as well as inanimate objects to produce a diverse arrangement which mimics the meaning of life. Ikebana is a therapeutic activity which everyone should experience.
