Commonwealth Games 2018 | 400m hurdlers impress in qualifying
It was a generally positive day for Jamaica's 400m hurdlers at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Tuesday's morning session (Monday night Jamaica time) inside the Carrara Stadium on Australia's Gold Coast.
Only Ricardo Cunningham failed to advance among the men, as Andre Clarke, 49.10 seconds, posted the second fastest time in his second place finish in the heats, while Jaheel Hyde, won his in 49.14, which was the third fastest time in qualifying.
Cunningham actually ran fourth in his heat in 50.68, missing a spot in Wednesday's final set for 4:45 a.m.
Janieve Russell's 54.01 seconds is the fastest time among qualifiers for the Wednesday's final (4:40 a.m.) as all three Jamaican women booked a lane in the event.
Rhonda Whyte, 55.10 and Ristananna Tracey, 55.66, both finished fourth in their respective heats, but incidentally, it was the two Jamaicans, who secured the two fastest non-automatic qualifier spots for the final.
