Peart looking for an ideal game
Glenmuir set to close out daCosta Cup tie against Morant Bay High
Perennial contenders Glenmuir High will be looking to close out their tie today at 3 p.m. when they host Morant Bay High in their ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup second leg at Glenmuir High in one of three return fixtures.
The Andrew Peart-coached Clarendon-based school holds a comfortable 3-0 lead from the first away leg, following a brace from Orane Watson and a sole goal from Deandre Johnson.
Peart is keen to close out the tie with another impressive display at home. However, the Ben Francis Cup champions are still working on putting together the ‘perfect game’, with much tougher assignments potentially to come.
“Our main aim is to qualify for the next round, and we also want to continue to improve and get better as we progress. I am still looking for us to play our ideal game,” said Peart.
Elsewhere, St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) will also feel they can get the job done when they take a 1-0 lead back to Santa Cruz against Irwin High.
It took a late 85th-minute penalty from Dante Campbell to snatch the win for the Omar Wedderburn-coached STETHS, who will be well aware that they will have to be at their very best once again to stave off the challenge of the Norman Foster-coached Irwin.
In another game, BB Coke will travel to York Oval with a 2-0 lead from the first leg when they take on Paul Bogle High.
Tomorrow, 13 more return matches are scheduled to be contested, with defending champions Clarendon College virtually through to the next round following their 8-0 first leg away win over DeCarteret College.
Garvey Maceo are also expected to make light work of St Mary High at home after they dispatched the eastern-based school 7-0 in the first leg at the Annotto Bay Sports Complex.
Frome Technical should also advance, following their 4-1 away win to Vere Technical.
