MOLYNES UNITED secured their second win of the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season when they blanked Vere United 2-0 at the Stadium East field yesterday.

Molynes United, whose only other victory was against Montego Bay United, were held to a 0-0 draw by Vere when the two teams met earlier this season.

In a match of half chances, Molynes started the stronger of the two and in the 12th minute, a pass over the top played Rashawn Livingston through on goal. However, he was unable to find the final touch to give Molynes the lead.

Moments later, Vere carved out a chance of their own when wily teenager Nathaniel Howe danced his way through the defence but his shot on goal could not beat the Molynes custodian Peter Harrison.

Molynes found the break though early in the second half when in-form Daniel Hardy beat Othniel Reid in the Vere United goal.

Hardy’s goal was his third of the season following his brace in Molynes’ win over Montego Bay United in game week 11.

Livingston got redemption for his earlier miss when in the 56th minute, he found the upper right corner with a powerful strike to double Molynes’ lead.

With the win under their belt, Molynes head coach Jermaine Thomas said the team has improved since his appointment with more focus now being placed on their organisation.

“We’re taking it game by game, we’re not rushing anything. We’re been putting in a lot of hard work. We’ve worked a lot on our organisation and our structure and we’ve been seeing some results.”

Meanwhile, Linval Dixon, head coach of Vere United, said his team had no answer on the day to Molynes’ diagonal play.

“We saw early in the game that they were playing the diagonal but our wingers weren’t coming back quickly enough to help the wingbacks and it was something we highlighted at half-time,” he said. “It cost us but it is something we have to look at very seriously.”

Molynes sit 12th in the league standings with 11 points, while Vere United are in eighth with 18 points.
