Family of sprinter Tia Clayton expecting golden performance in Paris
Kadian Clayton, the father of sprinter Tia Clayton, says he is expecting a golden performance from his daughter in the women's 100m at Paris Olympic Games this afternoon.
Tia along with fellow Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sashalee Forbes are to line-up today for the semi-finals.
Her father along with her mother Tishana Pinnock-Williams, grandmother May-Antobell Campbell, and other family members and well-wishers have gathered in the community of Crowder, Grange Hill, Westmoreland to watch the race.
Tia made her Olympic debut on Friday finishing second in 11.00 in her heat behind Canada's Audrey Ludec in a national record time of 10.95.
“My expectation is to get the gold,” beamed her father.
"I think she gonna execute and do her best. She kinna little bit nervous but I think she gonna do her best because it her first big field different from champs… so she a little bit nervous but I think she is gonna execute the race and do it well," she her mother with a smile.
Kadian described Tia as a good daughter who loves to run, which was echoed by her mother.
He recalled that as children Tia and her twin Tina, who is also a sprinter, enjoyed running as they would also blaze to the shop.
He said both he and their mother are happy to see their daughters living their dreams in athletics.
