Spotlight on Main Mistress, Zulu Warrior in Saturday’s feature
UNITED States-bred MAIN MISTRESS and in-form native runner ZULU WARRIOR should use similar running styles to land divisions one and two, respectively, of Saturday’s Front Runner Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy at six and a half furlongs.
Ironically, MAIN MISTRESS, a four-year-old brown filly, won on her second start, locally, beating ZULU WARRIOR by nine and a half lengths at seven furlongs, September 14, last year, losing to SUPREMASI at seven and a half when next out late December.
Local-bred SUPREMASI, who finished two and a quarter lengths behind third-place stablemate LINGUIST, in last Saturday’s Errol Subratie Memorial won by down-in-class American, IS THAT A FACT, features strongly in MAIN MISTRESS’ form.
Last time out, August 30, MAIN MISTRESS was easily second-best behind SUPREMASI, winning in 1:40.0 at a mile on a muddy track. MAIN MISTRESS finished four and a quarter lengths clear of SUPREMASI’s stablemate, ALLEGIANCE, and six and a quarter ahead of PROVIDENT, both of whom she faces and will again be in receipt of weight.
A winner of three races from nine starts, MAIN MISTRESS appears to be in great shape at exercise, clocking 1:01.4 for five furlongs on the round course, a sharpener for the middle-distance race, which the likes of HUNTSMAN will try stealing from in front.
However, HUNTSMAN was six lengths behind runner-up MAIN MISTRESS on August 30, joining PROVIDENT and ALLEGIANCE as tickets held in the foreigner’s back pocket.
In division two, ZULU WARRIOR, who has transformed since romping home by 14 lengths out of Adrian Prince’s barn late May, returns at the exact trip he had finished fourth behind out-of-class PERFECT BREW, Oaks-winner LINGUIST and PROVIDENT a month ago.
ZULU WARRIOR actually pressed United States-bred leader, FLORINDIA before HUNTSMAN circled both and led into the lane, only to be quickly gathered by LINGUIST, who, in turn, was inhaled by a storming PERFECT BREW.
Relegated to seventh off the home turn, ZULU WARRIOR actually rallied in the stretch run to finish fourth, four and a quarter lengths behind winner PERFECT BREW, who was two and a half clear of runner-up LINGUIST.
SUPER ALEX, who had no business being outsped at five furlongs straight behind GET A PEPSI, BULLETPROOFCOFFEE and ANOTHER ONE on October 5, appears to be ZULU WARRIOR’s main treat but only if Raddesh Roman gets into a speed tussle with American FINAL LOAD.
