Tovili’s Fuller torn over Mount Pleasant move
Tivoli Gardens star forward Nickalia Fuller is apparently torn between his loyalty to hometown club Tivoli Gardens FC and the financial lure of Mount Pleasant Football Academy.
Tivoli, it is understood, have received a very handsome offer from the Caribbean champions to tempt him away from the west Kingston club.
However, the mercurial winger, who scored his first goal for Jamaica in his second international, netting the lone strike in a 1-0 win over Grenada on Sunday, has been rumoured to be leaving the club for some time and only last week denied he was leaving Tivoli.
However, after Monday’s 3-2 defeat to Molynes, he seemed less certain about where his future lies.
“More than likely (I will play for Tivoli on Thursday against Racing). I am looking forward to it, but you don’t know what the future holds,” he declared.
“To be honest, I don’t even know. Right now I am just focused on my career.”
Despite the financial renumeration the player would enjoy at Mount Pleasant, he has seen many top local names go to that club and fail to get regular minutes and lose their value in the league before departing again after two seasons.
On the other hand, the 21-year-old is enjoying one of the best periods of his career at the west Kingston club and runs the risk of losing that momentum if things do not go according to plan in St Ann.
“To be honest. I don’t want to go on that point [the financial lure of Mount Pleasant]. As I said I am focusing on my career.
“If the transfer happens, it happens. I am not really sure what is happening with the transfer. I can’t give any information or an answer to it,” he stated.
Nevertheless, he insists that his ultimate objective is to get a ‘big move’ overseas at the end of this season.
“Definitely, I want to keep the high standard and the consistency in my performance. Hopefully, by the end of the season, you’ll see a big move. So I am looking out for a big move (overseas).
“I want to thank all my Tivoli teammates. They all have been very happy for me. I am very grateful for their love and support, and I am going to make everybody proud. My fans, friends, family, and everybody,” he said.
