Two former stars of local football, Arnett Gardens' Byron 'King' Earle and Tivoli's Jermaine 'Teddy's Johnson, will be among  the honourees at this year's 'Bring Back the Love' exhibition football matches, today at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, starting at 4 p.m.

Earle, an Arnett Gardens native, was a cool, collective and prolific centrer-forward for the 'Junglists' in the 1990s, and a Charlie Smith High Manning Cup star during the 1980s.

His exploits and performances at Arnett Gardens during his playing days earned him the name 'King', and the former player who still resides in the community is affectionately called 'King Earle' to this day.

Former Reggae Boy Johnson was an electrifying attacker who spent the bulk of his career in England, however,  his impact as a youngster for Tivoli in the early 2000s and at the end of his career in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, were unforgettable to those who witnessed the attacker in his element.

The other honourees this year include former FIFA referee Valdin Ledgister and Seaview Gardens Football Club president Earl Pinto.

The event is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m., and the competing teams this year will be Masters and Celebrities, Referees and Christian Ambassadors.

Although entry is free, the organisers have asked patrons to make a donation at the gate, and those with a contribution of $500 or more will be eligible for one of the many gate prizes that will be provided by the sponsors.

Proceeds from the event will go towards assisting basic schools with much needed equipment such as computers, printers and  fans.

"All we are asking for is a donation. If someone sees it fit to give more than $500, then that person will receive a ticket. We will have a few prizes from Bob Marley Foundation ad Flow," said event organiser Clive 'Busy' Campbell.
