Customs website offers 'Live Help'
The Jamaica Customs Department has implemented an additional link, 'live help', to its interactive website.
This is part of the customs department's efforts to add value to its service, through its officers assigned to the customer service and/or its information management units. This option allows for the speedy supply of critical information to its valuable clients. All conservations are monitored for quality control by both the information management and public relations directors. Customers also have the opportunity to print the conversation that takes place between themselves and the relevant officer.
Live help link
"Customers can now benefit from having trained customs officers to assist them, using the newest avenue of customer service via the 'live help' link on the customs website," said Dania Beckford, director of public relations and information. "The customs department is continuously conceptualising innovative ways of offering customers with quality customer service. Therefore, having an interactive website is an obvious way of assisting visitors to the website with queries in a timely manner," Beckford elaborated.
Beckford noted that the Jamaica Customs Department is making much use of the technology that is available to them. "In addition to calling our customer service lines, customers now have the option of clicking on the 'live help' link at the top of the webpage and they will be assisted by an officer, similar to how a conversation on MSN would take place," he said.
The 'live help' link is available via www.jacustoms.gov.jm, and is operational between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, Mondays to Fridays.
