WESTERN BUREAU:
For 28-year-old Devroy Chance, his new transportation business, Trips Around Jamaica, is already reaping benefits.
"Trips Around Jamaica is all about the provision of cost-effective chartered services, excursions, and tours for locals, companies, and tourists. In addition, we have recently added logistics management as a new feature to our list of services," Chance told Western Focus.
The University of Technology graduate, who hails from Montego Bay, said that while his services are similar to what other ground-transportation companies offer, Trips Around Jamaica is more customised and more affordable for the average person who wants to experience Jamaica via a road trip.
"We embrace the idea that anyone visiting a particular area should be classified as a tourist, and we believe everyone should be treated as such. With that in mind, we aim to have all tourists experience our diverse culture and unique attractions all across Jamaica," said Chance, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Customised packages
"Whether it's a school tour, company excursion, or missionary outing, all you have to do is call us. Let us know your intentions. We will customise your travel and tour packages."
Now a year old, the idea for Trips Around Jamaica came about through a discussion Chance had with his father and transportation provider, Dion Chance, regarding the need to have a unique affordable tran-sportation service.
So what does entreprenuership mean to this young businessman?
"It is all about having a third eye for opportunities hidden in plain sight and having the skill sets and vision to unleash these missing business opportunities that can be utilised by society while creating employment. I am 100 per cent focused on transportation solutions in western Jamaica."
When asked if he would encourage others to start creating their own business opportunities, the young man stated that capitalising on their own prospects is best, and given Jamaica's current economic con-dition, it has become necessary.
"There are individuals who push and those who need to be pushed. Being an entrepreneur, your ability to earn lies in your actions. Therefore, one has to be focused and be determined to execute what is necessary to get the job done," Chance concluded.
