WESTERN BUREAU:A business operator accused of stabbing his cousin during an argument over jet-ski fuel was placed back on bail on Wednesday after he was remanded for failing to honour his bail conditions.

Forty-three-year-old Dwight Blake, who is charged for wounding with intent, will return to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on September 13 after being readmitted to his previous $250,000 bail.

The court was told that Blake had failed to report to the Falmouth Police Station in Trealwny, according to his bail conditions, on two occasions, and was subsequently arrested on Monday.

He was to reside in Falmouth with relatives and report to the Falmouth Police Station every Monday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Attorney-at-law Martyn Thomas told the court that Blake had been out of the island due to an emergency with one of his boats, which was in foreign waters at the time.

"He (Blake) actually contacted me before missing his first date to say that he had an emergency with one of his boats that had electrical trouble. I had told him that as soon as he got back, he should contact me," Thomas told Resident Magistrate (RM) Sandria Wong-Small.

NOT HIDING

"It is not a situation where he is avoiding reporting or absconding bail. His livelihood was put in jeopardy. We are asking that he be readmitted to bail, and also that the bail condition be set aside."

But the RM had a stern warming for Blake as she placed him back on bail.

"I am not removing the reporting condition. It is not put there to be easy," she said. "It is the same condition; I am not removing it."

Allegations are that about 7:15 a.m on April 18, the two men were in Whitehouse, St James, when Blake accused his cousin of stealing petrol from one of his jet-ski bikes, which the complainant denied.

It is said that Blake left the scene and returned with a kitchen knife. He allegedly chased and stabbed the complainant in the back, chest, and left arm several times while saying, "Mi a go kill you!"

The cousin was rescued by nearby soldiers and taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital for treatment, while Blake was held and later taken into custody.

Trelawny man accused of robbing woman of $100,000

WESTERN BUREAU:

A Trelawny man who allegedly robbed a woman of $100,000 was offered bail in the same amount when he returned to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Alton Doemanm, a 32-year-old resident of Falmouth Gardens, pleaded not guilty to simple larceny against complainant, Crystal Williams.

The details of the allegations were not outlined in court, but the incident was allegedly committed on July 7.

Doeman is booked to return to court on September 13.

The prosecution told the court that surveillance footage is to be checked and brought into evidence to build its case against Doeman.

Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small offered him bail in the sum of $100,000 with two sureties, and ordered him to submit his fingerprints to the police. He was also warned not to interfere with the witnesses in the case.

He is to report to the Falmouth Police Station every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m until the matter is disposed of.
