WESTERN BUREAU:An 18-year-old vendor, who was remanded for stabbing another man, was offered bail on Monday with the understanding that he would attend mediation sessions with the complainant.

Christopher Mitchell of an Albion Lane in Montego Bay was detained on September 12 on a charge of unlawful wounding against Richard Cowley nine days after being offered bail on an unrelated larceny charge.

Allegations are that on September 7, Mitchell and Cowley were involved in a dispute at a patty shop in Montego Bay. It is said that Mitchell left the area but returned and allegedly used a knife to inflict wounds to the complainant.

When Mitchell's case was mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday, he indicated a willingness to attend mediation sessions to work out his disagreement with Cowley.

The prosecution also informed the court that Cowley's medical certificate was still outstanding from its case file.

Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small offered Mitchell $150,000 bail with two sureties and ordered him to report daily to the Barnett Street Police Station between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Mitchell was also given a curfew order. He is to be at home between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily. He was also advised to stay away from the establishment where the stabbing incident reportedly took place.

The case will be mentioned again on November 23.
