Strike Force barge into semi-final

Tuff Gong to battle Deeside for next spot in final

Western Bureau:Strike Force became the third qualifier for the semi-final round of the Premier League phase of the 2012 J. Wray & Nephew-sponsored White Overproof Rum Western Domino League when they brushed aside Tornado 300-242 in their quarter-final clash in Duncans, Trelawny, on Sunday.

By virtue of their win, Strike Force join champions Fighter Jet and Assassin, who had earlier qualified with quarter-final wins against Dynamic Strikers and Tropical Ridim. The other final spot will be decided this Sunday when Tuff Gong square off with Deeside Untouchables.

In the Division One fixture, which was also played on Sunday, Unity Strikers sealed their semi-final place in that competition with a 300-277 win over Rainbow Storm. Unity Striker have now joined Cool Waves as the early qualifiers for the Division One semi-finals.

Come this Sunday, the third Division One qualifier will be decided when Dynasty lock horns with Long Bay United as part of the double-header. The final Division One slot will be decided on Sunday, November 11, when Uptown meet Slickers.

At the conclusion of the Premier League, the breakdown of prizes reads: first place - $100,000; second place - $70,000; third place - $50,000; and $30,000 to fourth place. In the Division One, the breakdown reads: the champions - $65,000; second place - $40,000; third place - $30,000; and fourth place - $15,000.

In aspects of the competition already decided, Tuff Gong defeated Assassin 300-270 to win the Mid-Season Championship while in the knockout final, Assassin turned the tables on Tuff Gong, beating them 300-299 in a heart-stopping match-up.

The competition is sponsored to the tune of $400,000.
