FALMOUTH, Trelawny:
The newly established Kiwanis Club of New Falmouth in Trelawny held its chartered ceremony recently at Historic Falmouth, the town's cruise-shipping pier, setting the stage for what members hope will be a fruitful and productive mission of service to Division 25 - Trelawny, St James, Hanover, Westmoreland, and St Elizabeth.
The chartered presentation, which was presided over by Peter Tudisco, governor for Eastern Canada and the Caribbean district, saw the installation of Densill Sinclair, the director of Customs in Montego Bay, as the club's first president. Another eight persons were elected to serve in the administration.
In his speech, Tudisco talked about his life and his motivation to serve others and help change lives, especially children, who often need advice, guidance, and motivation to succeed in attaining self-actualisation.
Mayor of Falmouth Garth Wilkinson, who brought greetings on behalf of the town, expressed pleasure at seeing another voluntary organisation come to the fore. He encouraged the 27 members to live up to the mandate of the organisation, which is to serve the children of the world.
Others in attendance at the ceremony were Pierre Zacca, president of the Kiwanis Club of Montego Bay; and Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Robert Moo-Young from the sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Freeport.
The club meets at the cruise-shipping pier in Falmouth on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.
