'Proud to have made our mark!' - Lannaman & Morris Shipping celebrates 40 years!
A major player in the maritime sector, Lannaman & Morris Shipping Limited, one of Jamaica's leading logistics, cargo and cruise ship agents, is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The company, established in 1973, says it represents over 70 per cent of all cruise lines visiting Jamaica and 15 per cent of cargo tonnage entering the islands ports. Lannaman & Morris Shipping also manages the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Terminal, said to rank in the top 12 cruise ports in the region, on behalf of the Port Authority of Jamaica. Most recently, the company received the National Export Award for 2013 as the service champion for performance in 2012.
Harry Maragh, chairman and chief executive officer of Lannaman & Morris Shipping since 1997, said the secret behind its success has been the competent and committed team, valued customers, the company's principals and various institutions that have unconditionally supported the company.
"We are celebrating our 40th anniversary because of the loyal support we have received over the years," Maragh said. "We are proud to have made our mark in the industry and will continue to contribute to the development of shipping locally."
Lannaman & Morris Shipping was established by Vance Lannaman and Ainsley Morris in 1973 before being purchased by Harry Maragh in 1997. Since its inception, the company has represented Evergreen Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival Cruise Line.
PROFESSIONALISM
"The fact that we have represented these large global lines for 40 years is testament to the level of professionalism and expertise we have exhibited over the years," Maragh said.
The company, he said, is preparing for the future and the changes that are to come from the expansion of the locks in the Panama Canal. "We are currently conducting research to ensure that we remain competitive and viable moving into the future," he said.
Lannaman & Morris offers several services including: port and vessel management, general cargo services, cruises and leisure port and terminal management, ship brokering, chartering, stevedoring, bunkering services, logistics and supply chain management, warehousing, customs brokering, freight forwarding, haulage service and chassis rental, marine equipment maintenance and repairs and logistics/international transport and management consultancy.
The company has offices in Kingston and Montego Bay and boasts over 75,000 square foot of strategically located, secure warehouses.
Lannaman & Morris will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a long-service awards ceremony and church service later this year.
