Seaboard Jamaica moves to strengthen customer focus
The management of Seaboard Jamaica Limited, agents for Seaboard Marine, one of the largest regional carriers and an important user of Port Bustamante, has announced several personnel changes aimed at strengthening its capacity to serve customers in Jamaica.
Seaboard marketing and sales specialist, Coreen Williams, has been promoted to the position of sales and marketing director, with a mandate to overhaul the outreach of the company and enhance its already strong customer focus. According to managing director of Seaboard Jamaica, Corah-Ann Robertson-Sylvester, Williams has considerable experience in building and sustaining partnerships with customers and in leading internal cross-functional teams. Seaboard hopes to leverage Williams' expertise in driving sales to increase its share of the domestic cargo traffic in anticipation of an expansion of logistics business in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
With her concurrent appointment as special projects manager, Michelle Marks, who had been leading the sales and marketing team since 2012, will henceforth concentrate her skills on serving major Seaboard clients with a particular focus that the company hopes will reap big dividends as Jamaica prepares to implement the logistics hub.
BEGINNINGS
A graduate of Clarendon College, Coreen Williams, joined Seaboard Jamaica in 1999 as a customer service representative, shortly after completing a bachelor's degree in international relations at the University of the West Indies. She was promoted to account executive in 2002 and then to the position of sales manager in 2008, and during that period she completed the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the Mona School of Business. Said to be a multifaceted individual, Williams lectures part-time in services marketing at the School of Business Administration, University of Technology.
Michelle Marks has more than 25 years' experience as a sales professional and was customer relations manager at Kingston Wharves Limited between 1988 and 2008. She is the holder of separate diplomas in sales, shipping and logistics and supervisory management. She is pursuing the Master of Business Management degree with the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom.
Robertson-Sylvester says the company anticipates great results from these two appointments and wishes both ladies well in their new assignments.
