Jamaica’s cricketers returned from Antigua yesterday after cruising into the semi-finals of the Stanford 20/20 Competition at the Cricket Ground on Saturday night.
Chasing a modest 122 for victory from their allocation of 20 overs, Jamaica reached the target with 14 balls to spare.
Jamaica lost West Indies opening batsman Brenton Parchment in the third over for 10 runs, while Marlon Samuels hit a top score of 46 from 39 balls to set up the victory.
He collected the Man-of-the-Match cheque of US$25,000.
Captain Chris Gayle struggled to an undefeated 28 from 43 balls, while Danza Hyatt hammered 27 not out from 17 balls.
Jerome Taylor was the most successful Jamaican bowler with three wickets for 39 runs from four overs.
