US to help Guyana fight drug trafficking

A top United States official said the country could do more to help fight drug trafficking in Guyana.
Top State Department diplomat for Latin America, Thomas Shannon said Washington needs to work more closely with Guyana and other Caribbean countries to tackle drug trafficking.
Mr. Shannon made the comment after a State Department report criticised Guyana for its drug record.
Mr. Shannon said he would be requesting that the US Drug Enforcement Administration maintain a permanent presence in Guyana.
