Garvey Maceo qualify for Inter-Zone Round
Former champions, Garvey Maceo handed Marcus Garvey a 3-1 defeat in their Group 2 game at Drax Hall in St Ann yesterday to become the first school to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2009 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup competition.
However, the victory was marred by violence when the team bus of Garvey Maceo was attacked.
Following the victory, Garvey Maceo have moved to maximum 6 points.
In the other Group 2 game, Manchester High carved out a 4-1 victory over last year’s beaten finalist Spaldings High at Kirkvine Sports Club.
The big Group 1 clash between Ben Francis Knockout champions, Glenmuir and daCosta Cup champions St James High ended 0-0 at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay.
Both teams are now joint group leaders with 4 points each.
In the other Group 1 game, St Elizabeth Technical High School hammered Frome Technical 6-0 at Frome Sports Ground in Westmoreland.
