Taylor says he’s ready for first Test

Despite missing the four-day tour match against Queensland Bulls, West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor said he will be ready for the opening Test against Australia.

After arriving in Australia, the 25-year-old Jamaican complained of a stiff body and was rested for the first class match, which finished in a draw. His presence was badly missed as Queensland piled up over 600 runs in their first innings.

Taylor, who will spearhead the West Indies attack on the three-Test tour, said his training has been going well.

With regular pace partner Fidel Edwards missing from the tour, Taylor will be called upon to shoulder the burden of the Windies attack as the most experienced member.

The other pacers in the squad possess limited experience as Kemar Roach has played just two Tests, while Ravi Rampaul and Gavin Tonge are yet to make their debut.
