An exquisite 109 from Tillakaratne Dilshan helped Sri Lanka reach 366 for 8 at the end of today’s opening day of the third and final Test against hosts India in Mumbia.

On a lively pitch, Dilshan and Angelo Mathews, 86 not out ensured the match, which Sri Lanka must win to level the series, remains evenly poised.

Opener Tharanga Paranavitana chipped in with 53, while Prasanna Jayawardene scored 43.

Harbhajan Singh was the most successful bowler for India with 4 for 107, while Pragyan Ojha had 2 for 97.

Sri Lanka, who lost the second Test by an innings and 144 runs, have not won a Test on Indian soil since 1982.

A series win for India will take them to the top of the world Test rankings for the first time.
