West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been named as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Year.

Chanderpaul receives cricket’s oldest accolade after sustaining his side’s batting almost single-handed during the tour of England in 2007. He averaged 148 in the three Tests against England.

A former West Indies player Otis Gibson, who inspired Durham’s most successful season of county cricket, is also named.

He achieved the feat of taking all 10 wickets in an innings, against Hampshire.

At the end of the 2007 season, he was appointed as England’s bowling coach, and retired from first class cricket.

The remaining members are the England pair of Ian Bell and Ryan Sidebottom, and the Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan.
