Jane McGrath, wife of former Australian fast bowler Glen McGrath, has died after a long battle with breast cancer.

The 42 year old English-born Jane died peacefully yesterday at her Sydney home with her husband and two children by her side.

Jane was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, then bone cancer in 2003, but made a full recovery on both occasions.

She was diagnosed for the third time in 2006, prompting her husband to take eight months off cricket to care for her and their two young children.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who is on tour with the national side in the West Indies, said Jane was a wonderful person, who fought and maintained grace and dignity during her long-term illness.
