The Ministry of Health has taken steps to address concerns regarding the medical practice of senior doctors at the National Chest Hospital.

This follows reports by doctors and patients at the hospital that persons were being charged for medical service, as well as concerns about the treatment of patients at the institution.

Health Minister Rudyard Spencer outlined the changes to be implemented at a press conference this morning.

The decision follows an emergency meeting held with stakeholders in the health sector this morning.

The health minister said the Ministry is now examining the contract of Consultant Vascular and Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Dennis Pyne, who is at the centre of the complaints.

He said operations at the hospital will be now be overseen by the senior medical officer at the Kingston Public Hospital.
