A new market is to be built in the town of Port Maria, St. Mary, at a cost of $32 million in the next financial year.

Mayor of Port Maria, Richard Creary, says construction of the market forms part of plans by the local government department to improve market conditions in the town.

Mayor Creary says construction work is expected to start within the next few months.

Creary says plans are also in place to construct bus parks in Gayle and Oracabessa in the parish.
