British PM urges Labour confidence

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is urging his Labour Party to have confidence in policies, which he said would persuade voters to back the party at the next general election.

He told activists meeting at Warwick University that there was hope for the Labour party, despite its Glasgow East by-election defeat.

The Scottish National Party, which overturned a 13,507 majority, claimed its win was very significant.

Conservative leader David Cameron is urging Mr. Brown to call a general election.

However, the Prime Minister, who has until June 2010 to call an election, said he is not in any hurry to do so.
