You will be provided with a helmet. However cover your head with something before putting it on.

Dexterity challenge

 

Where: Port Royal

When: Today

With the aim of bringing something fun and exciting to the table, the Subaru Drivers Syndicate (SDS) is hosting its first dexterity challenge today. For those new to the concept, it's like an obstacle course where the driver has to manoeuvre his vehicle around various cones in the fastest possible time.

The event, which starts at 11 a.m., is being held at Chocolata Hole, Port Royal, and is slated to end at 4 p.m. "Of course, we wanted somewhere with a lot of space, and this venue is an open dirt area beside the post guard, which is across from the museum," said Michael Myles, founder of SDS.

Once at the venue, participants will be asked to fill out an entry form and pay a fee that ranges from $500 to $800 to participate in one the three categories: turbo, non-turbo, and open (for other model cars). After this process has been completed, a safety-advice session will be given by Chris James, who is a marshall for professional motor sports. "Chris is the one who designed the track and will be providing safety instructions to the participants, as well as overseeing the safety of members of the public who will be watching," said Myles.

He was also quick to emphasise the need for drivers to test their cars in a safe environment while developing their driving skills. "We don't want persons to be careless on the public roads, so this is an avenue to learn more about your car in a safe way," said Myles.
