All bets on Dalton
We might soon be able to refer to Dalton Harris as 2010 Digicel Rising Stars Winner — as well as 2018 winner of the UK X-Factor. All bets are on the 24-year-old Clarendonian to walk away with the title of the singing competition.
On Saturday, Harris stunned with his performance of Feeling Good, something his long-time mentor — Penthouse Donovan Germain and many other Jamaicans are feeling as Harris moves on to the finals.
Speaking with The Gleaner, Germain said every time he speaks to the youngster he tells him to be focused and keep his eyes on the prize. When he takes the stage on Saturday for the finals, Germain will be in the audience supporting him.
“I told him that I'm not coming (to London) until he makes it to the finals. He kept his part of the bargain. Now, it's my turn."
After Harris fell on hard times following his Rising Stars win, the producer stepped in as his unofficial guardian over the years.
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange was elated when she heard of Harris advancing to the finals. But she was not surprised. "I am very happy, and I would be surprised if he does not win. He is fantastic, an excellent talent," Grange said. "We all should pray for Dalton, that he comes out victorious."
