OnStage's Winford Williams 'stable' after motor vehicle accident
Entertainment journalist in Cornwall Regional Hospital nursing broken clavicle
Veteran entertainment journalist and television host Winford Williams is in stable condition in hospital after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Sunday morning.
Williams is currently being treated at Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James. Two other persons, who were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, have sustained minor injuries.
“I’m beyond shaken up about this news…looking at the scene of the accident the outcome could be so much more grim…I’m thankful that my Dad, cousin and co-worker are all alive and that Winford is expected to make a full recovery. Keep Winford and the team in your prayers," Jason Williams, fellow television personality and son of journalist Winford Williams, said.
Winford Williams, a well-known presenter of the Jamaican entertainment programme OnStage, reportedly suffered a broken clavicle during the accident. A clavicle fracture, also known as a broken collarbone, is a bone fracture of the clavicle.
"My dad is expected to make a full recovery, while my co-worker, a make up artiste, received a brace for her neck, but my cousin escaped without any major injuries but we will be closely monitoring him," the younger Williams, who is also an executive producer of Onstage, said.
The accident reportedly happened in Hanover, a few kilometres from a hotel where Williams was reportedly staying. Preliminary information suggests Williams’ vehicle collided with a tour bus.
Williams is a well-known entertainment personality who has played a seminal role in highlighting the careers of several Jamaican reggae and dancehall artistes over the past three decades.
There has been no official release from the authorities about the location, time and circumstances of the crash. However, as officials investigate the accident, updates will be shared as they become available.
