Orange Bay Preparatory and Kindergarten school in Hanover is basking in the accomplishment of having all 19 of its students who sat the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examinations being placed at their first-choice school.

It’s an achievement that the school’s director, Norine Morris-Allen, credits to the use of the EduHub SmartStudy app.

“The questions that are on the app, the practice test, the mock exam; it gives them a feel of what the exam will be like and some of the questions that they might come across in the exams. It helped them with the practice, it gave them their weak areas, and it highlighted the areas that they need to work on more; and when they do the mock exam, afterwards, it gives them the answer,” she said.

Launched in September 2023, the first-of-its-kind app is dedicated to PEP preparation and is described as the ultimate exam and study companion.

It covers all subject areas from grades four to six, and parents, teachers, and principals can access progress reports. A key component of the SmartStudy app is its gamification features, which aim to make the learning process fun. It is also integrated with artificial intelligence technology to facilitate personalised learning and provides analytics to track students’ progress.

Morris-Allen said her students started using the app in September last year at a cost of $4,500 per student for the year.

“It is something I would recommend for all schools. It’s not bad where pricing is concerned, and it’s a one-time payment; it’s something that every parent can afford,” she said.

During a special congratulatory luncheon held at the AC Hotel in Kingston last Friday, Mikyle Segree, a student from the Orange Bay Preparatory and Kindergarten School, was awarded $15,000 from the EduHub StudySmart app’s annual scholarship programme.

His school was also recognised as the top-performing school using the app.

Kezani Gordon, a student from Old Harbour Primary, who is heading to Immaculate Conception High School, was also awarded a $300,000 scholarship.

Founder and CEO of EduHub Company Limited, Davia Bryan-Campbell, noted that the event also served to remind parents and the general public of EduHub’s commitment to academic success, innovation in learning, and access to practical resources like scholarships and grants.

“Trusted by over 10,000 students across Jamaica, the StudySmart app has proven to be a game-changing tool in exam preparation, helping students improve focus, strengthen weak areas, and build exam confidence,” she said.
