Sashagay and Clifford make the ‘Peart-fect’ match
What can one direct message do? For Sashagay Silk and Clifford Peart, it did more than enough to spark an enchanting romance that would later lead the happy couple to walk down the aisle as husband and wife.
Sashagay explained that she first lay eyes on Clifford at church. Unbeknown to her, he also had his sights set on her. “I would often see her at church, and something inside me kept saying, ‘There goes your wife’,” Clifford told Island Wedding.
So he put plans into action, finding her on Facebook and sending her both a request and a message. They got to talking under social media aliases José and Kate, hitting it off immediately.
Intrigued by their unique banter, Clifford promised to one day visit Sashagay on campus since she was attending university at the time. That encounter only sealed their fate in making an even deeper connection.
“For some reason, I felt safe and comfortable around him. He has a positive energy that just radiates. But he acts so shy, too. I did most of the talking, and he would just listen. After communicating for a while, we became really good friends. I could tell he really liked me but was so shy,” she shared.
Making a natural progression into a relationship, Sashagay recounted their first date at Hard Rock Cafe in Montego Bay, St James: “It was a great experience. We were able to bond more and see how each other operated in a different setting. The ambience was great and so was the company.”
Since getting to know her handsome and humble love, she has been fascinated by how kind, caring, observant, hilarious, and dedicated Clifford is. “Always looking out for others and the less fortunate, he always shows up for me. I never have to worry because I know he will handle things. Knowing more about me than I do about myself, he often notices things before I do. He is a comedian. There is never a dull moment when you’re around him.
Sashagay continued: “He believes in me and speaks life into me, my goals, and aspirations. He is always there to guide and support me, and that makes the growth process smoother and faster. I can safely say that I am in a better place in every area of my life.”
After prayer, feeling safe and secure in his presence, and having that familiar feeling of knowing him her whole life, she knew that he was the one.
Initially seeing Sashagay as beautiful, smart, and polite, he was excited to discover how creative, talented, and goal oriented she was as well. “She is always looking for areas for growth and improvement. She is solution oriented and knows the right steps to take. She prays for and encourages me in all my endeavours,” he said, adding, “The first day I saw her I knew she was the one. It wasn’t just about her beauty. There was just something on the inside that kept saying she was the one for me.”
After four years of dating, Clifford asked Sashagay to marry him with a romantic proposal disguised as a dinner date. “I invited her to dinner but actually had an arrangement with the team at Elevate on how the moment should play out. I made her feel like it was an actual date until she was being serenaded and the team came out with a sign that said, ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME, SASHA?’. I could tell she was blown away. Everything came together nicely,” he revealed. Sashagay, who was blown away by the beautiful public proposal, said yes.
With a nuptial vision inclusive of colour, decor, and outfits already in mind, she worked with a team to make those matrimonial dreams a reality. As for the dress, her initial desire was a ballgown, but after recommendations from others, she said yes to a fitted dress from Unions Bridal Boutique.
On March 3, Sashagay and Clifford joined hands and hearts in a beautiful wedding ceremony held at Summerfields Villa in Ironshore, Montego Bay. Showers of blessing only added to the majestic experience as the couples exchanged vows and said ‘I do’.
After sealing their union with a kiss and officially making the walk as Mr and Mrs Peart, the newly-weds continued the celebration with a festive reception. “To say yes to forever with my soulmate was the best feeling ever. I was amazed at how things turned out. My wife really has good taste,” Clifford added.
