One Saturday night at the start of 2021, Alexis Bowen was patiently waiting at the bus stop in Three Miles, Kingston, to meet a friend. Suddenly, two strange men rode past her on a bike. When her eyes met those of the pillion rider, he asked his friend to pull over. In an unexpected turn of events, she learned that the man who approached her was Arjandas Gordon. He would go on to not only steal her heart, but to also officially give her his last name.

“I could never forget that night. We exchanged numbers at the Scotiabank. And I knew she was the one for me because we were friends until we started a relationship,” Arjandas explained to Island Wedding.

Alexis, who had made a promise to him that she would text him the minute she got home no matter how late, recalls her interaction with him, “I thought he was cute,” she said, adding, “I’d seen him around long before we started talking. I had admired him and always wanted a relationship with him.”

Shortly after their chance encounter, the two talked and decided to give the relationship a green light, taking things slow to see where it would go. For their first date, the couple chose to see a comedy at the movies. “It was fun,” Alexis highlighted, noting, “We were both on our best behaviour since it was our first time going out together.”

Since then, Alexis has marvelled at how handsome, hard working, generous, caring, and ambitious Arjandas is. “He has assisted in my personal growth, [helping me to be] more mature about how I go about living my life daily. Also, he has helped me to get out of my masculine energy [by] being there for me in every possible way, even if that means sometimes stepping out of his comfort zone,” she shared.

As for Arjandas, he just can’t get enough of how sweet, loving, caring, understanding, and trustworthy his bride is.

“She has helped me to grow mentally, physically and emotionally. I’m not someone who shows feelings. And when I’m around her, I do. She’s always the first to cry but she sees my soft and kindhearted side. She can always call on me to save her because she is all I could ever ask for in a wife,” he asserted.

As a couple, the pair continued to enjoy movie time together, going out to restaurants and simply relaxing in each other’s company. After almost two years of dating, Alexis and Arjandas made an unexpected detour; the two had broken up. “I went overseas for a couple months,” he explained. It was during this time apart that Alexis realised he was the one for her.

A few months later, Arjandas asked the love of his life to be his lawfully wedded wife. He planned the engagement months before she returned to Jamaica, “Her mom helped me with the surprise.”

According to Alexis, her beloved planned everything, “He chose Lucky Crab Seafood Bar and Grill. The staff was amazing. We were the only ones on the top roof, and he proposed to Usher and Wale’s Matrimony. It was perfect.”

This fiancée didn’t opt for a wedding planner. Instead, she took on the role herself, leaning on the support of her parents and her sister, who was also her maid of honour.

“We planned the entire wedding. The process was tiring and stressful, especially during the week before the wedding.” But everything changed when she walked down the aisle. And after seeing some amazing ideas for bridal gowns on YouTube, Alexis said yes to a beautiful wedding dress from Unions Bridal Boutique.

On July 13, the couple joined together in holy matrimony. The beautiful bride walked down the aisle to meet her dapper groom at Calvary Evangelistic Church of God in Edgewater, Portmore, St Catherine. The newly-weds explained that the day was everything they had hoped for. They both agreed that their favourite moment came after the announcement that the groom may kiss his bride.

“Our first dance as husband and wife was to You are my Lady by Freddie Jackson. The feeling was good overall. I was so happy [to be] the wife of the man that I love,” Mrs Gordon reflected.
