Samantha Robinson talks WeddingWire wins, wedding trends
Samantha Robinson has made a name for herself in the local wedding industry with LuxBrides JA. It’s no wonder that she won the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award four years in a row. “Our success is as a result of the tremendous support we have been receiving from these beautiful brides-to-be,” she told Island Wedding.
During the launch of her couture wedding dress brand, Robinson was fortunate to have the support of other colleagues who were already in the bridal industry, “Once I was made aware of this international platform for weddings, WeddingWire, I reached out to them to ascertain information on how to become a part of their prestigious platform.”
It was there that the team from WeddingWire thought that her brand would be a perfect fit for their platform based on her offerings. “They were quite intrigued as well by the line of luxury dresses I offered and relayed they were more than delighted for LuxBrides JA to be featured on WeddingWire,” she revealed.
Winning in the dress and attire category from 2021 to present, this bridal entrepreneur is honoured to be putting Jamaica on the map.
Reflecting on the gorgeous brides she has guided over the years, Robinson shared some wedded wisdom on current bridal trends.
“I have found that in my experience, brides are steering away from traditional practices as it relates to the colour of their wedding dresses, for example. Customarily, white gowns were the preferred choice for weddings, however, ivory and champagne gowns have become more prominent and sought after by brides,” she shared, adding that from time to time, she receives requests for coloured gowns in blush pink, red, gold, and even black.
The style of gowns chosen is dependent on the bride’s vision and taste. These wedding stunners are selecting dresses with pearls and lace to add elegance. “Ball gowns are quite trendy, and petite to plus size brides are requesting these princess-style gowns. Off-shoulder and sweetheart neckline gowns tend to be most requested and rightfully so, based on the climatic conditions on the island,” Robinson revealed.
Her curvier brides, she pointed out, primarily go for trumpet and mermaid gowns with equally fabulous details. And it is important to note that the bridal business owner accessorises all of their gowns with matching detailed cathedral veils. “Most of our designs do have matching cathedral veils that have the details of their respective gowns. In choosing the right accessories, I take into account that all brides are different, and I try to capture the true essence of the bride in putting these bridal looks together.”
With her eye for details and creative vision, she is able to encourage brides to step outside of their comfort zone and dream of an even bigger picture. “For brides who wants to make a statement all around, we match these statement veils that are loaded with exquisite details to the statement luxury gowns, however, for less dramatic and minimalistic brides, we do simpler veils with either lace or pearl details to tie back into the dress design.”
A bride knows when she has found her dream dress. And some brides get so overwhelmed with emotions whether tears or sheer excitement. With Robinson looking confidently to the future and aiming to provide new services and product offerings through LuxBrides JA , she aims to continue fulfilling dreams and creating magic with truly enchanting dresses.
Samantha Robinson’s tips for upcoming brides
• Don’t be afraid to reflect your personal style in your wedding look.
• Have a budget when shopping for wedding dresses. This will help you to cut down the time and choices so that you can find your gown and options in your budget.
• When dress shopping, think about what your wedding is actually going to be like. For example, if you are going to be on the beach, by a garden or in a ballroom. Ensure your gown suits your venue. You don’t want to be on the beach in a big ball gown.
