Delroy Chuck, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for North East St Andrew has called for the resignation of Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips for his "leading role" in engaging in what Chuck calls a smear campaign against party leader, Andrew Holness.
"They tried to destroy Edward Seaga, Bruce Golding and now Andrew Holness but it can't succeed," declared Chuck at a JLP meeting in Stony Hill, West Rural St Andrew Monday night.
"I am angry! Peter Phillips must resign and apologise to Andrew Holness."
Chuck even suggested that Phillips should lose his Gleaner 'Man of the Year' award.
He said Phillips had put his own reputation and character on the line to smear Holness' name.
According to Chuck, Phillips had all the information available to him, still he sought to sully Holness' reputation.
"Peter Phillips is a disgrace to the Finance Ministry and the Government and Jamaica," said Chuck.
