JCF warn public against ‘Christmas Cash Grant’ scam
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is alerting the public to a fraudulent message circulating online that claims to offer a “Christmas Cash Grant” in the name of Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The JCF says the scam is designed to trick unsuspecting individuals into clicking malicious links and sharing personal or financial information.
It says that at this time of year, criminals are more active in their attempts to scam and defraud individuals.
These tactics, it notes, often involve phishing, smishing (fraudulent text messages), and other forms of cyberattacks.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and cautious when interacting with online messages, links, or offers that seem too good to be true.
The JCF is urging the public to report all suspicious or fraudulent activities to the police or their service providers.
