Taxi operator killed, passenger wounded in Old Harbour Road gun attack
A taxi operator was killed and a passenger hospitalised after the vehicle they were travelling in came under fire from a gunman on a bike along Old Harbour Road in St Catherine this afternoon.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, and a motive for the attack has not been established.
The hospitalised male passenger is reportedly in an unstable condition.
Reports are that around 4:10, the taxi operator was travelling in his vehicle with a passenger along the roadway when, upon reaching near a church, a gunman on a motorcycle rode up beside the vehicle and opened fire, hitting both men multiple times.
The wounded men were rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the taxi operator was pronounced dead and the other man admitted.
A police manhunt has since been launched to capture the attacker.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Spanish Town police or Crime Stop at 311.
