The police have now charged four persons in relation to the attempted robbery at a Western Union outlet in Hope Bay, Portland in late August.

Charged with office breaking with intent, malicious destruction of property, and misprision of felony are 30-year-old Yudeen Brown, 26-year-old Rasheed Lyons, 44-year-old Shakira Clarke, and 21-year-old Emily Brown.

A date for the accused to appear in court is being arranged.

Reports from the Port Antonio police are that around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, Yudeen and five other armed men reportedly entered the establishment.

While inside, they were accosted by the owner, who is a licensed firearm holder.

According to the police, an argument ensued, during which one of the men pointed a firearm at the owner.

In his defence, the owner discharged several rounds from his licensed firearm, injuring two of the men,one fatally, the police reported.

The other men fled the area unhurt.

A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched.

The escapees reportedly contacted Emily and Clarke, who, the police say, solicited the help of a taxi company.

The police intercepted them while they attempted to flee the parish, thwarting their efforts.

All four individuals were arrested.

They were subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys.
