The country is to be given an update on the swearing in of the new Government following a meeting tomorrow morning between Prime Minister-designate Dr Andrew Holness and Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) representative on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, Tom Tavares Finson, informed the media today that the Electoral Office of Jamaica has communicated to King's House that the JLP secured the majority of the seats in the House of Representatives in the September 3 general election.

"This will pave the way for the swearing in of the prime minister and the new government," he said.

Tavares Finson said the details of the swearing in of the new government would emerge after a formal meeting between the prime minister and the governor general.

The official count of ballots cast in last week's election showed the JLP winning 35 seats to the People's National Party's 28.
