Teenager who admitted to making false sexual assault complaint charged
Investigators in the St Catherine North police division have charged a 16-year-old girl with creating public mischief after she admitted in court that she lied about being sexually assaulted by a 40-year-old man.
The teen was formally charged on Friday.
She was arrested after the accused was freed in the St Catherine Circuit Court on September 18.
The man had been charged with buggery, grievous sexual assault and sexual touching, among other charges
During the trial the teenager told the court that she lied because the man did not return her affection.
As a result she was taken into custody on the order of the court.
A court date is being finalised for her appearance.
