Kiwanis Club of Drax Hall established
The development of Drax Hall in St Ann, spearheaded in recent years by commercial and medium to high-end home construction, took a more human turn recently with the establishment of the community’s first social club, the Kiwanis Club of Drax Hall.
At the charter ceremony at the Drax Hall Manor, conducted by the Kiwanis Governor of Eastern Canada and the Caribbean, Pamela Rodney-White, Joel Grant was installed as the first charter president of the Kiwanis Club of Drax Hall.
The new club was chartered in May this year and had the installation ceremony last week.
Grant, in his address, congratulated the new membership of 24 that comprises business operators and residents in and around Drax Hall, on the bold step forward to serve the needs of Drax Hall and surrounding areas.
One of the creeds of Kiwanis Mission is "To provide through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, and to build better communities"
The establishment of the Kiwanis Club of Drax Hall follows several others in the parish of St Ann. These include the Kiwanis Club of Ocho Rios, Kiwanis Club of the Garden Parish, Kiwanis Club of Discovery Bay, Kiwanis Club of Moneague, Kiwanis Club of Brown’s Town, and Kiwanis Club of Alexandria-Charlton.
