Toll road operators on storm alert
The operators of highway toll roads are now on alert to respond to any emergency directive that may come from the Minister of Transport as Jamaica braces for Tropical Storm Melissa.
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz made the announcement during a special media briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister in St Andrew on Thursday.
This means, he said, that if there is traffic congestion on the highways caused by panic arising from the storm he will give directives that would allow commuters to use the toll roads free of cost.
