St Andrew police extend curfew for Park and 100 Lane communities
The 48-hour curfew imposed for the communities of Park and 100 Lane off Red Hills Road, has been extended by the St Andrew North police.
The extension will commence 6 p.m. today and will remain in effect until 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The initial curfew started on Friday and ended on Sunday at 6 p.m.
The security measure was imposed as part of ongoing law enforcement operations aimed at maintaining public order and reducing criminal activity in the affected areas.
The most recent flare-up occurred on November 30, following the murder of 50-year-old Janet Baker, a Park Lane resident.
She was shot and killed in a drive-by attack in the community, which carries scars from gang conflicts and recurring violence.
Persons within the boundaries are required to remain indoors unless otherwise authorised by the ground commander.
The boundaries of the curfew are:
North – From the intersection with Red Hills Road and Pennant Terrace to the intersection of Pennant Drive and Pennant Terrace about 219 meters.
East – Along Pennant Drive from the intersection with Pennant Terrace to the intersection with Whitehall Avenue about 261 meters.
South – Along Whitehall Avenue from the intersection with Pennant Drive to the intersection with Red Hills Road about 370 meters.
West – Along Red Hills Road from the intersection with Whitehall Avenue to the intersection with Pennant Terrace about 315 meters.
