Agriculture Ministry to conduct animal-tagging blitz in Clarendon on Saturday
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining has announced that an animal-tagging blitz will be carried out in Clarendon on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.
The exercise will be conducted under the National Animal Identification and Traceability System and will target several farming communities across the parish.
These include Vere Plains, comprising Lionel Town, Race Course and Alley, as well as Rhymesbury, Gravel Hill, Bois Content, York Town, Denbigh, Kraal, Race Track, Love Lane and Crofts Hill.
Farmers with cattle requiring tagging are being encouraged to make contact ahead of the exercise. They may reach NAITS at 876-648-5672 or the Veterinary Services Division at 876-977-2489 or 876-977-2492. Enquiries may also be made by email to vsd@moa.gov.jm.
The ministry advised that farmers participating in the tagging exercise should have valid identification and their Tax Registration Number available on the day.
The tagging blitz forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen livestock identification and traceability across the island.
