Man gets 18 months in prison for robbing St Catherine schoolboy of phone

A St Catherine man who pleaded guilty to robbing a schoolboy of a cellular phone valued at $10,000 was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment in the parish court on Tuesday.
The accused, 18-year-old Kenroy Douglas, also known as 'Squaddy,' of Glengoffe district in the parish, was sentenced by Senior Parish Court Judge Nelson-Gayle.
A relative of Douglas pleaded for a “second chance,” suggesting he be enrolled in a training institution.
However, Judge Nelson-Gayle said the offence was serious and warranted a custodial sentence.
Court documents state that on Friday, September 12, 2025, the complainant was walking to school in Glengoffe when Douglas, armed with a knife, threatened him and stole his Torch cellular phone.
The victim reported the matter to the Glengoffe Police Station, prompting an investigation.
Officers conducted a search of Douglas’s home and recovered the stolen phone.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery following a question-and-answer session.
Douglas pleaded guilty to the charge on September 23.
